Accomplice Abu Sayyaf identified as Moto Indama, a young militant 26-year-old, brother of the militant Furuji Indama. Together with other militants, he handed over the weapons directly to the Western Mindanao Command chief, Lt. Gen. Mayoralgo dela Cruz and Governor of Basilan, Jim Hataman-Saliman.
The Philippine Star reports showed the militants surrender Minimi gun, an M653 rifle, an M1 rifle, three loaded gun caliber 0.45, 9.38 caliber rifle loaded, and ammunition. Last week unknown 21 former members of the Abu Sayyaf terrorist network also surrendered to the government.
Mayor Gulam, Boy Hataman, praised the decision they surrender and give all weapons. According to him, before giving up the Indama group sends a signal indicated their intention to do that.
"We are witnessing the courage of our brothers to give themselves up. They have chosen to follow the path of peace," he said, quoted by Asian Correspondent.
Indama group is then coordinated with local police and military to officially hand over their weapons and called for a ceasefire. Indama admitted, he and his colleagues are already tired of doing battle daily in the southern Philippine jungle.
"We really want to return to a peaceful and normal life, we are just hesitant and afraid," said Indama.
Those who surrendered, along Indama is Haimin hji Jalil (17), Marham Musana (18), Sadjara Hadjaraman (23), Rari Murasimin (12), Halid Murasimin (20), Gulam Hajim (19), Haraward Sahirulla (20), Basri Laisun (35), Nasim Baliyung (21), and Rare Ring (15). Everything comes from the town of Sumisip.
